I'd still choose you...A Valentine message

Valentine's day is almost here and soon candy as well as cards will be zoooming around quicker than ideas for new taxes coming from Democrats. As this special day draws near I must write to honor the day (and a person) who have brought me much happeness.I met the future Mrs Crossbow in the hallway of a friends house. I was returning some books I had barrowed for my College studies. I said "hi" (a very nervous hi--she was drop dead georgeous then and STILL is NOW! OOOOOO Yeah!)I almost toppled the stack of books I was holding. I found out that she grew up in the very same area that I was in when I was in the Navy. She liked romantic movies, art, and B.J. Thomas. After many romantic movies, walks on the beach and tons of french fries I worked up the courage to "pop the question". As I knelt down on one knee I mustered up the words: WWWWIIILLL YYYYOOOOUUU MMMMMMMMMMARR--she swiftly jumped and said : YES!!! (she has been finishing my sentences ever since) Then --believe it---a huge spotlight from a Coast Guard helicopter lit up our whole area!--Hey!! we are famous! I could never imagine how much a man could love the gal of his dreams--untill I met mine. If I had to do it all over again I'd still choose this wonderful gem that God gave me from his Heavenly treasure trove. The very same loving God who created us us man and woman also created this wonderful thing called MARRIAGE!!He really knows his stuff. It has been said that over time what is precious will be precious still. Well, for this gem that I married precious is timeless. Happy Valentine's Day Mrs Crossbow!! Love ya Gal!!

Massachusetts dumps the "tea"

or should I say "Kool-aid"??The spectacular special election last week of Republican Scott Brown to the seat once held by a Democrat (not just any Democrat--Ted Kennedy) is still sending shockwaves on Capitol hill. The Democrats are in full panic mode and for good reason. Their 60 vote magority is history as well as much of the hot air that was in their political sails. Is it any wonder that President Barack Obama is now proposing a "freeze"on spending? Why now?? Where was all this talk when the Democrats had their 60 votes and before the Virginia/New Jersey gubernatorial elections?Hmmmmmmm? All this talk of "freezing "spending has come too late. The "jig" is up-the American people have seen enough. The writing is on the wall!! I find it really amazing that so many articles in the press are still saying that these elections are not a referenum on Barack Obama and the direction on where this country is heading under Democratic leadership. HELLO!!!!!!People vote for a reason!! and I do believe it is safe to say that they VOTE to send a message. The elections of Virginia, New Jersey and now Massachusetts have sent a very real message to Capitol Hill. This is a message (voiced at townhalls and TEA party meetings)that has been ignored largley by the current leadership in Washington. You have ignored our voices--you cannot ignor our VOTES!! November is REALLY looking good right now!!

Got to have Faith...A Christmas Message.

This is it...Christmas week. I know that there is a lot on everyones mind(like a certain vote in the senate) It can be very easy to focus on different things and lose focus on what this week is all about.I was talking with my sister Mary Kay in Ohio (OOOOOthe snow)She reminded me of the fact that NO matter what happens in Washington----Bethlehem remains the same. It does not stop the real meaning of the season: the hope that God sent by sending Christ Jesus! Do not forget that when Jesus was born the Roman Empire was breathing down everyones back and political betrayal was an everyday reality. The reality that is truly important is the reality of the true HOPE sent that is why we can have hope this Christmas season....and always.I want to wish everyone here at Townhall the best of this Holy season!!!We (Mrs Crossbow and I) will be attending several musicals this week(Mrs Crossbow is in one of them!!) and a candlelight service in Virginia. What I like most about a candlelight service is the room is so dark at first--then the candles are lighted----one---by---one. Then the whole room is full of light!!In a way we do the very same thing here at Townhall. We light a candle of light and expose the darkness. I know the year is not over. I also know there is much to do---now and in the year to come. In the meantime let us light many candles!!Because the world so needs to see the light!! God Bless !!!

Remembering Pearl Harbor-why WE must win.

68 years ago today we were brutally attacked by the Empire of Japan. As the bombs fell and ships exploded many still were slow to believe that we were actually being attacked. We were indeed being attcked by an enemy whose goal was to beat us. I am quick to note that something else was happening at the same time---our RESPONCE!!!! In planning their attack the Japanese had figured since we were a country already weakened (by the depression) and with strife (political conflict) that we would be a pushover.----THEY THOUGHT WRONG!!!!This nation united into a powerhouse like it never did before. We knew we had a war on our hands. Wedid not start it ---but WE were gonna finish it!!! We had to fight--and WIN-the future of out freedom and childern's freedom was at stake. I am now thinking of another day that we were again--burtally attacked-that day is Sept 11, 2001. It is not hard to figure out the "bad" guys in that attack. There are those who hate us because we do not obey "their"law. We are a FREE nation. A FREE people. There are those who would not have us to be FREE. It is as simple as that. From the murderous attack on the USS Cole to the mad rampage at Fort Hood we are shown what hate can do. Islamic terrorists use terror to have people live in fear. After Pearl Harbor we realised WE had to win. It is the same NOW. We were created in the image of God to live FREE. It is the spirit of LIBERTY that propelled us to VICTORY in WW2 and in this same spirit WE will again gain the ultimate triumph--so help us God.  (Ps. 27:1)

Courage trumps terror at Ft. Hood.

Whenever the insanity of terrorism strikes there is a much greater force that counters...and always prevails. That counterforce is COURAGE!!! Such was the case this past week when a hate-crased madman walked in a Ft Hood facility and opened fire on unarmed soldiers. A police officer Kimberly Munley responded taking down the terrorist gunman whyle taking several bullets herself in the process. Other heroic efforts that day helped to save many lives! The whole community (and the nation) is responding with courage and compassion in the wake of this madness.Such efforts send a very real message: when terror strikes-COURAGE counters..and prevails! When America was attacked on 9/11 this nation came together as one.We rallied as a free people agenst those who would have us live in fear. I really believe in the wake of this terrible attack at Ft Hood our resolve agenst terror is as strong as ever!!I see it in the eyes of the heroes working now at Ft Hood and the whole community! Our thoughts and prayers go out for the brave soldiers and their families who are effected by this tragic event. As God helps us the goodness of America will continue to shine as a holy light not only in our brave armed forces but in the hearts of freedom loving Americans everywhere for we know the spirit of LIBERTY still shines bright." no matter how thick the darkness is it cannot overcome the tiniest shining light" Today many lights are shining at Ft Hood.

Red Dawn: My favorite Patrick Swayze movie

The sad passing of film star Patrick Swayze has left a void that will be impossable to fill. He was unique in soo many was and he was so much more than an acomplished actor. Swayze inspired everyone to use the God given talents in each of us to their full potential. Of all his movies my favorite has to be Red Dawn. In this movie Swayze stars with Charlie Sheen, Jennifer Grey, and others as a group courageous teens who fight back when the US is invaded by Socialist/Communist forces. In one very chilling scene Americans are in a "re-education"camp. On a big screen images of US history are own and the captives are "educated". Whoever does not buy into the programing gets lined up and......well, use your imagination.  The film also shows the fighting spirit that rises up even when it seems all odds are agesnt you. Such spirit was in Patrick Swayze! By far above his movies Swayze will be remembered for cancer awareness. This is a personal quest for me as well since I lost my older brother Joe to lung cancer 3 years ago. In his life and message Patrick Swayze shone to everyone that they have gifts-God given that make them as indaviduals very special! God breaks every mold because each and everyone of his creations are so indavidually special. Patrick Swayze was certainly one of them--I know he will be missed.

Watching a speech today...by Ronald Reagan!!!

A great American will be presenting a speech today. NO, I am not talking about the current white house occupant. I will be watching a taped speech by Ronald Reagan and I can tell you right here and now it will be far more educational than the other speech given today. Hey, do not get me wrong here-I am all for education and working hard for America-that is why my kids will see this speech from one who truly believes in this country as well as every American to succeed with the God given talents they were blessed with. Ronald Reagan  stepped up to the plate when "mr Peanut" was in the white house and this country  was being pushed in a direction for disaster. Right now congress is back in session and there is a choice to be made. In Townhall meetings,e-mails and phone calls Americans have said -very loudly -that they do NOT want government run heath care. What direction will congress go?  will they listen to the American people who sent them there or will they continue in a big spending-big government direction that will lead to disaster?? I do not believe that this nation can go much further in the disasterous direction the "big government" gurus are taking it. It sorta reminds me of the grand canyon--guess where the next step off the cliff will lead??So congress this is it---we will see if you truly want to serve the people or not. If you want to see and hear a great speech by a great American just come over to my house.

Will "Big Brother"decide for Michael?!!!

Earlier this year my son Michael had to have dental surgery. Being a special need child (Autism) he had to go to a facility for special need childern and adult. Now, picture this: me and my son appearing before a panal of government officials. This "Big Brother" panel's job is to decide, based on a subjective judgment of my sons 'level of productivity in society' if he is worthy to recieve health care. IS THAT the future this nation is going to???? when you have to "prove" yourself to recieve health care??I am not the only one who has these concerns - Gov Sarah Palin (also a parent of a special need child) has fimiliar concern.Does anyone acually believe that the government will be in the better position to make health care choices than we--or our doctor?? What happens if we are judged "unworthy" because we are too old or have a disability like my son??These are many of the questions conserned Americans are asking-LOUDLY-at the townhall meetings-and rightly so because  everyday Americans are waking up to  the "devil in the details" of this socialised health bill. What is strangly missing from talk from politicians is the fact that this is indeed a government run plan--with government run rules. Oh and then there is the cost--over 1 trillon dollars over the next 10 years--are the politicians  gonna argue that fact with the Congressonal Budget Office?? Barack Obama has said many protesters of his plan are "missleding and using "scare tactics" How can he say that to those who directly quote the CBO??and tell the fact that this is indeed a government run plan that requires "end of life" counselling!!!!House speaker Nancy Pelosi has said such protesting of this bill is "UNAmerican" HELLO!!I do believe we still have the 1st Anmendment of the US Constitution that protects freedom of speech!!I get emotional because many take care of special need children and elderly parents-what will happen to them under "Big Brothers" plan??There are many reform proposals that are being presented right now  that do not have "Big Brother" taking over. Right now as free Americans we have CHOICES!!! These choices keep us free and productive because it is WE that do the choosing!!! HEY it is still "WE the PEOPLE"  Today my son has a big beautiful smile-thank God-I just cannot imagine him not getting the care he needs because of a government "panel" What will it be for us America?? will it still be "WE the People" or "US the Government"??

July 4th...A time 2 Rally...A time 4 Resolve.

Long before a handful of Patriots signed a piece of paper in 1776 a great Liberty movement was already aflame. The great awakening fire was transforming America into a holy light of Liberty that would guide "huddled masses" in the years to come.  It all started when Americans realised where true Liberty came from and woke up to rally for true liberty not just for themselves but for those who would follow. "No king but Christ"!! was one of the ralling crys of ordinary folk who had had enough of overbearing British who were abusing the people with their authoritarian ways. Is it any wonder when the Boston tea party happened that so many saw that their course was set---it was Liberty or tyranny---the choice was theirs. Today we are facing a difficult time for our country. Many in our own government are talking a lot about "reform" and yet the very plan being pushed on us has the government in control and limits our indavidual choices. When I think of government run health care the shadow of Walter Reed medical center looms on the horizon. Do we want a nationwide Walter Reed?? There are people in England who are pulling out their own teeth because of the wait for care under the government plan!!!This country was built on freedom--freedom in the liberty that came from God. to build this great nation that still has the best heath care (even with its faults)in all the world. When indaviduals have this liberty we can create great things for us and our childern...This 4th of July let truly look to where our precious liberties came from and rally to presurve them with resolve in our hearts ....see you at a TEA party.

Reagan Returns.

Ronald Reagan has returned. Last week a bronse statue of the American hero was unvieled in the US Capitol Rotunda in Washington DC. Nancy Reagan was there and said she liked the "likeness" but what I like is what I see happening not only in Washington but all over America. Americans are coming back to the core principles that have built this nation-the HUGE success of the TEA parties is a great example of this.  When I was in my "rock and roll" stage I listened to a song called "we're not gonna take it anymore" This song was featured in a movie "Iron Eagle".  The undeniable meassage to Washington is just that! WE are NOT gonna take this big government take over anymore!!The news media bearly covered the historic story of Reagans statue-but that does not stop the groundswell that has begun. The bronze statue is just that-a statue. The principles that Reagan believed in and we believe in that will bring our country back from the abyss are alive and well!! There is one very interesting tidbit of info that many newspapers did not include in their stories. That info is there are pieces of the former berlin wall in the base of the statue. Who could forget reagan standing on the wall and thundering these words "tear down this wall"!! Today there are many walls in our media and schools that kick out God. I join with Reagan in saying "tear down these walls"!!The groundswell is growing--we have a LOT to do before 2010 and 2012--It is gonna be a fight--no doupt-but I say--BRING IT ON!!!!

Remembering D Day...and why

65 years ago on this date allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy to liberate Europe from Hitler's Socialist tyranny. Many will see observations and ceremonies marking the great sacrifices of "the greatest generation". Today we breathe free because of sacrifice. The brave who have answered the call of duty and we are now free. Personally, I am overwhelmed at the thought of what it took. The literal blood, sweat, and tears of all those who knew that great evil must be fought agenst and good must prevail. I am reminded of a story of the battle now called "the battle of the bulge" Patton was being hammered, the weather was not cooperating and it looked like the American lines were not giong to hold..then the miracle happened! The sky broke-allied planes roared in and gave the Germans some pounding and Patton went on to win. Patton looked up and gave thanks--he knew where the victory came from. Today many are observing D Day remembering events in Europe and here in America. On this D Day anniversary MUST remember and thank Almighty God for he freedoms we have and never forget those who paid the ultimate price.

Never in vain...A Memorial Day message

Like many Americans I will  be attending Memorial Day observances next week. I know for many Vets like myself  it has special meaning because of the vows we took to defend our constitution--from all enemies both forgien and domestic. I will be going to Arlington. As this time of rememberance approaches one can see very clearly the very liberties "the greatest generation" fought for are in grave peril. We have a memorial cross at a veterans park the ACLU is suing to remove, have a dept of Homeland Security going after war heroes, and we have a house speaker who does'nt even know what to say. It can be very discouraging to dwell on some of this, however, I choose to think of things this way---I remember words I have read on a veterans memorial that say: "Our Liberties we will defend...Our Honor we will uphold" Yes, we STILL have "IT". The spirit of Liberty still lives in the hearts of brave Americans-a great proof of that were all the "TEA" parties. Brave free Americans had the courage to SHOW up,STEP up, and SPEAK up!!!!!! I will see many rows of white crosses next week. Even as I write this the emotions are coming. The brave men and women who made the ultamte sacrifice for our liberty --I know--have not done so in vain. Not as long as there are Americans who will continue to make sure that this nation will still be land of the FREE and the home of tghe BRAVE!!!

Hey focus on the real enemy...not heroes!!

America has enemies...real ones. The events of 9/11 proved that fact just as the attack on our forces on Pearl Harbor did over 60 years ago.A very big difference between then and now can be found in this assesment from the dept of homeland security. What makes  this assesment so disturbing to me as a veteran of the military is the apparent direction their efforts are going in pointing out who the enimies of our liberties are.It strikes me so wrong that  the government is targeting as pontential threats the very ones who have pledged their very lives in defense of our constitutional liberties. If they want to see threats  to our nation all they have to do is look who were rejoicing after the attacks of 9/11 AND  who is spewing the latest anti- American poison at the so called "united"nations!!! I even saw a cable "news" reporter accusing the Patriots at a  tea party rally as being "anti-government".Please correct me if I am wrong but does not the constitution of this country says that we have a right to peaceful protest? I could go on here but I believe I've made my point. I have two nephews who are involved in our defense  efforts overseas. One just came back after his third tour in Iraq with the Ohio National Guard. The other is in the Air Force serving in Kuwait. They are heroes to me as ALL who genuenly loves this great nation and charish our God given liberty. My grandfather was a "doughboy" in WW1. My Dad was on a Navy distroyer in ww2.Both my brother Joe and I served during the cold war. My brother -a marine and me a Navy  avation electricians mate. In each and every one of these conflicts there was very little doupt who the real  threats to American liberty were. As the government goes about with assesments like this the real enemies of our country are laughing as they continue their way.

A lesson in Liberty...in 3 shots.

courtesy of the US Navy SEALS. The daring rescue operation that took place this past sunday was an outstanding success! US Navy SEAL snipers took out the oppressive Somili pirates with three shots thus rescuing the merchant captain Richard phillips whom they were illegally holding hostage. The pirates were no doupt thinking that they had things in their control. This was the very same thinking that the Bibery pirates thought in the 1800s when doing their crimes.Well, they thought wrong then and they thought wrong this time too!!! It does not surprise me much that this highly successful rescue mission took place on the very same day that we celebrate another stunning victory over evil. A victory that triumphed over death victorious--2000 years ago!

They are Heroes...every one of them!

My Son is Autistic. He is a wonderful, bright young man who loves everyone and especially the special oylimpics. He is a Hero to me. So you can imagine my shock and disapointment when I heard the disparging remark that Barack Obama made on the tonight show. Is this the leadership that we are all supposed to rally behind??To discribe his bowling game he said "It was like special olympics or something" this gaffe really hits and I agree with Maria Shriver who said it "hurts".Granted, Obama called Marias brother-the head of special olimpics to apologise--but the effects linger on.There are many who will remember this at another election time. I am so very honored to be a part of special olympics! The athletes who compete are showing the whole world what can be done when you have a heart of a champion!!My son has his medals shown in his room for all to see and am I proud of him--you bet!! I am just very disappointed and saddened that we have someone in the white house that would rather make jokes than really make a difference.
